Return to Learn Part 2

Our Eagles our SOARing into 2021!!!!

A Note From Mr. Witherspoon:

We are so excited to welcome our students back into the building on Monday, January 11, 2021!!! Please review all the safety protocols/procedures, drop-off/arrival procedures, and schedules for the day.

Remember that the doors to the school will open at 8:55 am and students may enter the building at that point and head directly to their classrooms (we will not have outside lineup). Students will not be supervised prior to this time and should be with an adult at all times.

Masks are not optional and should be worn by all that are on school grounds as well as maintaining all physical distancing protocols.
We are looking forward to our continued work together during the remainder of the school year. The partnership that we have will continue to prove that, together, we can provide a learning experience for our kids that is second to none!

Please don't hesitate to email me, or your child's teacher, if you have any questions.

Changes in class placement:
  1. Families that requested a change in class placement for the remainder of the school year will be notified by Wednesday, January 6, 2021 of the new class placement.

Masks are required to be worn, please do not enter the building if you are experiencing symptoms, have tested positive, or have been in contact with anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19. The material will remain in the secure vestibule; however, it will be important for your child to have the material for upcoming weeks.

Parent Connect:

It is very important that the contact information is current in Parent Connect.  This is replacing the EMERGENCY CARDS!  We use this information to contact you when your child is not feeling well or if there is an emergency.  The following information was sent out previously from the district on September 24th.

Although many will find the new process to be self-explanatory, instructions are provided in this link Back to School Updates ReEnrollment.pdf

Please take a few moments tonight or tomorrow, to complete the required updates and/or to check to see if all the contact information is the most current.

How Eagles SOAR during online learning:

    Parent Tips:

Build routines that help your child understand that they are really in a school day.

    • Use timers that give your child a 10 minute warning that the next session is about to start.

    • Create a quiet learning spot that will help reduce distractions.

    • Talk about the Cleveland Online Learning Expectations as a family and help your child honor them.

    • Help your child attend every learning session on time and ready to learn.

Embrace the struggle that naturally comes with the learning process.

    • Your child is supposed to engage in some type of struggle while learning. It is apart of the learning process.

    • Your child should not need your help during the lesson. We DO NOT expect perfection from our students. We want our students to try their best, ask questions, be problem solvers, and get their work done to the best of their ability. (Not to the best of their parent's ability). When your child makes mistakes and gets questions wrong, our teachers learn more about how to support them. Please allow your child to do their own work and learn how to ask their teacher questions.

    • Students should be sitting at their computer without their parents nearby. When parents are too close, students tend to ask them questions or expect too much support on the work that needs to be done.

    Asynchronous Learning Time

    • Finish the math assignment from each day's lesson

    • 20 minutes of math on iReady

    • 20 minutes of reading on iReady

    • 20 minutes of free choice reading time.

    • Complete one special - Art, LMC, Music, PE.

Support Teachers will be setting up times to meet with your child.

    • Please review your child's calendar every night to see what has been scheduled for the next day.

    • We have MANY support and specials education teachers who are booking lessons with students outside of the three learning times.

The Livonia Police Department is looking for people that would like to take advantage of the opportunity to have a positive impact on children and their families!

Crossing guards are often the first people that children see (outside of their family members) and, more often, the person that puts a smile on their face that lasts throughout the day!

Please give Officer Rebant, Livonia Police Traffic Bureau, a call at 734-466-2683, if you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity or recommend to someone that would be.
