September 21, 2020 - “I have seen many storms in my life. Most storms have caught me by surprise, so I had to learn very quickly to look further and understand that I am not capable of controlling the weather, to exercise the art of patience and to respect the fury of nature.” ~Paulo Coehho

The Eagles are SOARing high!!!!

A Note From Mr. Witherspoon:
The virtual learning world is alive and well here at Cleveland! Together, we are creating opportunities for our Eagles to take flight and SOAR through the school year! I will keep my comments brief (you're welcome) as there are some items that I want to make sure that you have the information for.

The students, grades 1-4, will be asked to take a Reading and Math Diagnostic test beginning on Wednesday, September 23 as a part of their asynchronous learning. This assessment will allow us to prepare our students for an individualized learning experience for this school year. Please, though it is always difficult to what your child struggle (equally for teachers), allow them to answer the questions on their own. You can assist with reading the questions and the choices at first, but allow them to choose the answer. The lessons that I-Ready selects for your child will reflect how they do on the assessment; so, if you helping too much, their lessons will be much too difficult for them and no allow them to experience success.

This test is computer-adaptive and will adjust the difficulty of questions based on previous answers.  Remember, the follow-up lessons will be adjusted to fit the individual needs of each student.

Superintendent, Andrea Oquist, and her Cabinet team presented a plan to the Livonia Public Schools Board of Education on Monday Night for a return of students to the buildings.  The Board of Education will vote on the proposed plan at next week's meeting.

The details of this meeting can be found by clicking on the following video:

The Livonia Police Department is looking for people that would like to take advantage of the opportunity to have a positive impact on children and their families!

Crossing guards are often the first people that children see (outside of their family members) and, more often, the person that puts a smile on their face that lasts throughout the day!  Please give Officer Rebant, Livonia Police Traffic Bureau, a call at 734-466-2683, if you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity or recommend to someone that would be.
